When i purchased the "Amiga Forever Online Edition" i was under the impression that i would have everything that i needed to emulate an Amiga, sure i understand 100% emulation is incredibly difficult (the job you've done so far is great) - and i expected the steps to getting everything up and running were going to be difficult. But it seems that i am missing some important files - i can play around with settings and search the web high and low for answers but if i don't have the right files i'll never get anywhere; especially if the files that are missing are Kickstarts.
It may be that i actually don't need these files; there may be some other way, that i don't yet know of, which will allow me to run games & software that i want - but at the moment (using the only route that i have found online) whenever i run a program that requires WHDLoad i get an error "DOS-ERROR #205 (object not found) on reading 'devs:kickstarts/kick34005.a500'"
After much searching online it seems that i need to get hold of the above file (and another file of the same name with .RTB as an extension {as this allows soft-kicking the ROM so it can run from a different address in memory to it's normal hardcoded address}). Merely renaming the 1.3 ROM file that comes with Amiga Forever doesn't work (i didn't think it would but someone suggested it). It also seems these files are still copywrited and so, are not up for free download. Does my purchase of Amiga Forever not cover these files? Why Not? I thought it had all the major ROMs that would be needed and yet many of the HD games wont run? and why are they any different to the ROMs supplied with A.F.? Is it because i am using a strange version of WHDLoad (v 16.4) that expects the kickstart files in a certain way? can i convert the 1.3 ROM to the Kickstart file (as that is the ROM that i have been told is the right one for the job)?
Anyways as you can tell i have a lot of questions and i'm quite lost as to where to get hold of these files (files that i thought i should have) and i have no idea what to do next, hence my e-mail - searching online just seems throw up dead ends - and half the games that i wanted to emulate in the first place wont run with out these Kickstart files being in DEVS:Kickstarts.
Thanks for your time & anything you can do to shed some light on this problem would be very much appreciated.
Kind Regards
Phil Glanville.
