I have no idea why this is, or what possess me sometimes - but i love watching poirot... always have done. I know that it comes across as tacky in places and some of the acting can be atrocious... but i've always found i can esacpe to the french (belgian) detectives world really easily - just because everything is so neat and worked out.
I love the fact that each of the characters has their own little things that make them, some may say this makes for simple and not very well written characters. But one of the things i think that majorly makes a character is their ability to win the audience over - no matter how simple or complex.
They are all so characterized that it is almost calming because you know what to expect from each person. Hercule is the best, he has all his little ways that make him quite eccentric and if they were anyone elses traits you'd probably find them annoying but his character (imo) seems to carry them off and almost make him lovable because of his meticularism (perfectionism in a meticular way).
So i confess, i enjoy Poirot (David Suchet) - in all its cheesy and predictable format - but hey thats me... at least its not reality tv or changing rooms!
