With the 11/30 patch another command was added to assist with the sound stuttering problem. To use this command: Right click on half-life 2 in the Steam games list and select 'properties' then click the 'launch options' button. Add the text '+snd_async_prefetch _priority 1' then click OK and launch half-life 2
